Welcome to this series of writings dedicated to the work and worldview of Cultural Dynamics Strategy and Marketing.

Ever since 1985, I have experienced and witnessed the origins, birth and development of Cultural Dynamics. I have worked with and for Pat Dade and Les Higgins for many years, and I continue to provide research, mentoring and consultancy as and when needed.

Plan?

My intention is to share my personal and professional views of the great body of knowledge that has been produced by Cultural Dynamics, and to create a space where current, previous and future clients can see the data and associated research in a new light. As a Consultant Facilitator, I have tended to focus on helping others to develop their understanding, so that they feel able to make better decisions and to create more sustainable plans; however, sharing my personal views feels somewhat new and daunting.

Even though I am passing on my knowledge and experiences to you, I know that the act of writing will help me to make new connections and to foster new insights, so I am looking forward to discovering what I have to say! Putting together these initial thoughts has highlighted my need to let go of detailed plans and to commit to a more creative, contemplative and emergent strategy where there will be no set pattern or order to these writings. I will let my Muse take the lead, in the knowledge that this work could inform the development of published articles, presentations, workshops or online courses in the future. So, I would value any questions, comments, stories, data or references that will help me to check, challenge and change these raw thoughts, and help to deepen and refine my thinking.

Starting Point?

As well as wanting to explore some fundamental questions about the theoretical models used by CDSM, I start this journey with a keen interest in the guiding touchstones of Happiness and Control. These are my starting points, but the unexpected has always been part of my everyday work, so the words of T.S. Eliot feel particularly resonant for me at this time….

“We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time”
